The Chandler-Gilbert softball team scored all of their runs in the third inning. That was all they needed as they topped Yavapai College 4–2 in game one of Friday’s doubleheader. Avree Rhodes had a solo home run for the Lady Riders.
Game Two saw YC absolutely tee off on the Lady Coyotes. They hung eleven runs on the board in the second inning. Chandler-Gilbert fought back, but not enough, as the Lady Riders won 14–8. Georgia Wagner-Stiles, Tamryn Tucker, and Eniyah Dominguez each drove in three runs. Dominguez also scored three runs. Sofia Romero had two RBIs. Ryder Wilmarth was the winning pitcher, striking out four.
Yavapai stands at 4–7 on the season. They are back in action tomorrow when they head to Phoenix to face South Mountain. The Lady Riders don’t play at home until February 27th, when they host Central Arizona.
