A bill sponsored by Prescott-area state Representative Quang Nguyen unanimously passed the Arizona House. The bill lowers the fentanyl threshold for enhanced prison sentences from 200 grams to 100 grams, targeting dealers pushing deadly doses into Arizona communities.
Nguyen says the bill sends a clear message that fentanyl trafficking won’t be tolerated.
Mandatory prison terms under existing law range from five to 15 years. The bill keeps those in place, ensuring they apply where they’re needed most — without creating loopholes or reducing penalties.
The bill now heads to the Arizona Senate for consideration.
