YCCHS Receives Money to Aid Alzheimer’s Sufferers

Yavapai County Community Health Services is one of 12 health departments nationwide selected to receive funding and technical support from the Alzheimer’s Association. The award comes through the Healthy Brain Initiative Road Map Strategist Program, a partnership with the National Association of County and City Health Officials. The program helps local health departments strengthen efforts to promote brain health and address dementia as a public health issue.

With the grant, YCCHS will hire a part-time Road Map strategist to lead community-based strategies, conduct a public health needs assessment, and build partnerships with health systems and local organizations. County health officials say the goal is to raise awareness about dementia and connect residents — including those living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers — to available resources.
