Highway 69 could soon honor the veterans of wars from the past one hundred years. The State House of Representatives Monday passed House Concurrent Memorial 2007 with bipartisan support. The measure urges the Arizona State Board on Geographic and Historic Names to divide Highway 69 into six equal sections, each designated as a memorial highway honoring veterans of World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Desert Storm, and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
Prescott-area State Representative Quang Nguyen says the designation would serve as a visible tribute along a major corridor, reminding Arizonans of the sacrifice and service of American veterans.
House Concurrent Memorial 2007 now moves forward as a formal request to the state board.
