Hunters in Yavapai County still have a chance to get tags for the 2026 elk hunting season. The state Game and Fish Department has one hundred leftover tags. The vast majority are for limited opportunity antlerless elk hunts, with a handful of archery only hunts.
Game and Fish will begin accepting paper applications for leftover hunt permit-tags on a first-come, first-served basis — by mail only — next Monday. Any remaining leftover hunt permit-tags will go on sale on a first-come, first-served basis beginning March 23rd at all department offices.
