Tuesday over in Payson, the Chino Valley baseball team got off to a slow start and had to stage a massive rally to beat the Longhorns. Thursday, however, the Cougars followed a completely different script when they took on Camp Verde. Chino established an 8-0 lead in the third inning. The Cougars’ pitching staff scattered a few hits and gave up a handful of runs throughout the game, which the Cowboys lost 11-3.
Destry Owings had a triple and drove in three runs. Cutter McCoy went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Ryan Lamotte doubled and drove in two runs. Luke Olson, Hudson Sapko, and Caden Doak each scored two runs.
Chino Valley is now 6-2 on the season and is on a four-game winning streak. The Cougars are back home Monday to take on Winslow.
