This Day in Sports History, March 17th

1955: Chaos in Canada: Canadiens fans rioted in Montreal following the suspension of superstar Maurice “The Rocket” Richard. When it was over, 37 people were injured, and 100 were arrested.

1988: An excess of offense. The Loyola-Marymount men’s basketball team outlasted Wyoming 119–115 in the highest-scoring NCAA game ever at that point. Bo Kimble was the leading scorer for the victorious Lions with 29 points.

2013: A second-half surge got them the title. After trailing by 14 points at halftime, the Ole Miss men’s basketball team posted 42 points in the second half to top Florida 66–63 to win the SEC championship. The Rebels only made it to the second round of the national tournament.
