Firefighters and emergency responders from across the Prescott area will be conducting live fire training exercises south of Prescott in early April.
The annual Prescott Basin Operations Drill is scheduled for April 7th and 8th near the Groom Creek area, off Senator Highway and Schoolhouse Gulch Road. Participating agencies include the Prescott National Forest, Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority, City of Prescott Fire, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, and several others.
Crews will work three to six small controlled burns to practice fire suppression, test communications equipment, and coordinate evacuation procedures — all ahead of the upcoming wildfire season.
Residents in the Groom Creek area can expect to see smoke and fire activity on those dates. The exercises are planned and supervised.
