Two Cornville men are behind bars after what Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office investigators say was a moving job that turned into a $60,000 theft that ended with a SWAT team at the door.
The investigation stems from a January incident in a woman hired two movers to transport her belongings from Utah to Scottsdale. But the movers allegedly diverted the trip to Cornville, where they broke the locks off the U-Haul and stole the woman’s property. She did not report the theft until about a month later.
Yavapai County Sheriff’s detectives tracked the stolen property to two Cornville residences, and last Wednesday, the YCSO SWAT team showed up at both residences with search warrants.
Detectives recovered some of the stolen items at one home and arrested 51-year-old Raymond Holguin. At the second location, investigators found methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, and multiple loaded firearms. 57-year-old Marc Morris was arrested, along with a woman wanted on a probation violation.
Authorities say both men face felony theft charges, with additional drug and weapons counts filed against Morris. The investigation remains ongoing.
