This Day in Sports History, March 30th

1925: They were the last ones to do it. The Victoria Cougars of the Western Canada Hockey League skunked the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens 6-1 to win the Stanley Cup in five games. It was the final time a non-NHL team captured the Cup.

1997: Yet another naty. Tennessee topped Old Dominion 68-59 in the NCAA women’s basketball national championship game. It was the fifth national title for the Lady Vols.

1998: More success for the Cats. Kentucky dispatched Utah 78-69 to win the NCAA men’s basketball national championship. It was the Wildcats second title in three seasons.
