BMHS Baseball One-ups PHS

Round two of this year’s rivalry series between the Prescott and Bradshaw Mountain baseball teams took place under the lights in Prescott Valley Wednesday. The Badgers were looking to rebound from Monday’s 8–5 loss, while the Bears hoped to sweep the season series.

The first four innings were a pitchers’ duel between Prescott’s Travis Gates and Bradshaw’s Brecken Herb, with neither team scoring. That changed in the fifth inning when the Bears put three runs on the board, followed by another in the sixth inning. The Badgers mounted a comeback in the seventh inning, but came up short as Bradshaw Mountain took the contest 4–3.

Both Sammy Villafana and Drew Strader had one RBI apiece for the Bears. Herb was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts. For the Badgers, Ashton Whitwell, Matt Hepperle, and Gates each had an RBI. Gates also fanned eleven.

Prescott is 11–7 on the season and Bradshaw is 5–11.
