Seligman fire crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash along I-40 Wednesday afternoon.
Seligman fire officials say crews were assisting with a patient transfer at the local airport when they were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, first responders found two vehicles involved, one of which had a driver suspected of impairment. One vehicle traveled more than 1,700 feet beyond the initial point of impact before coming to rest in the median.
Due to the severity of the crash, the westbound lanes of I-40 were temporarily shut down to allow medical helicopters to land safely. All four patients were stabilized and transported to a nearby trauma center. The investigation into the crash continues.
