Yavapai College Donates Used Computers to Local Schools

As local school districts continue to face tight budgets, Yavapai College is working to strengthen community partnership in Yavapai County. Recently, the college donated a significant amount of surplus computer equipment to local school districts. Typically, the college sends surplus equipment to auction; however, as the college works to strengthen its commitment to student success across the county, it is also working to re-establish its donation program.

Yavapai College donated 49 desktop computers, 90 displays, and 40 keyboard-mouse combinations to Humboldt Unified School District, Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District, and Yarnell School District. Yavapai College officials say Yarnell School District intends to use the donated equipment to set up a computer lab for elementary students to learn digital literacy. The donation does consist of most of the college’s surplus, but college officials say there is a renewed priority to place retired equipment in the hands of educators and students.
