State Agency Says Prepare for Wildfires Now

The time is now for Yavapai County residents to protect their homes from wildfires, especially with an increased risk for fire through the month of June.

Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management spokeswoman Tiffany Davila encourages people to create a defensible space and clear foliage like stinknet and tamarisk – invasive species that are flammable. Davila also recommends clearing the roof and gutters of fuel, and even firewood that may be stacked on the patio or near the home.

Despite Monday’s rain, the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest is high.
