State Rep Nguyen’s Fentanyl Enforcement Bill Becomes Law

Arizona lawmakers have approved tougher penalties for fentanyl trafficking under House Bill 2132, aimed at cracking down on dealers moving dangerous amounts of the drug.

The new law lowers the threshold for enhanced sentences from 200 grams to 100 grams, expanding mandatory prison terms for those convicted of sales offenses. Supporters say the change will help prosecutors target dealers more effectively.

Prescott-area State Representative Quang Nguyen, the bill’s sponsor, says fentanyl continues to devastate Arizona communities and the law ensures more traffickers face serious consequences.

The bill is part of a broader effort to strengthen public safety and combat the state’s ongoing fentanyl crisis.
