They not only had an excellent season on the mat, the Embry-Riddle wrestling team also performed phenomenally in the classroom. Nine Eagles were named National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-Americans. They are Trenton Blomquist, Jacob Briggs, Parker Buhr, Daniil Gorshkov, Sam Humphrey, Jaren Kimura, Adam Stanley, Tauataina Tuikolongahau, and national champion Yoshi Funakoshi. In addition to their academic honors, Gorshkov finished in third place at the national tournament, and Blomquist finished in fifth place. Gorshkov was also the Cascade Collegiate Conference champion in his weight class.
As a team, Embry-Riddle – which finished fourth at the national tournament – had the third best GPA among all NAIA teams with a 3.51. In second place was Friends University at 3.58 and Eastern Oregon in first place at 3.66.
