Over the past few years, Yavapai College has been working to bring open education resources to the school, and develop their own. Open education resources are teaching materials free for educators to use that aim to reduce the cost of education. Yavapai College has worked to introduce them to courses using a grant from Department of Education’s Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education.
Yavapai College Director of Academic Initiatives Megan Crossfield tells The News:
Crossfield adds that while OER began as an initiative, it has become an integral part of the college’s culture. She adds open education resources have proven highly effective in reducing material costs to students and the college will continue developing resources in the future.
