On paper, it looked like a mismatch. The Prescott boys volleyball team came into Friday’s contest with a 16-5 record and ranked number five in the 4A conference. Tempe, meanwhile, had just one win on the season and was ranked 34th in power points. Still, the Buffaloes put up a pretty good fight against the Badgers, but the blue and gold ultimately prevailed, getting wins by the scores of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-16 for the 3-0 match sweep. That victory sews up the Black Canyon Region championship for Prescott.
Payson Jacobson notched seven kills for the Badgers. Jack Golleher and Eli Buettner both posted six kills and one block. Garrett Tebbetts recorded five kills.
Prescott has two games this week to conclude the regular season. Tomorrow they host number seven ranked Cactus Shadows, then on Wednesday they are at number eight ranked Paradise Honors.
