ERAU Softball Zaps Hope Int’l, Advances to GSAC Title Game

On Tuesday, the Embry-Riddle softball team took care of number one seed Arizona Christian in the first day of the Great Southwest Athletic Conference playoffs. Wednesday, the Lady Eagles kept on rolling as they faced Hope International. Riddle jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, and the “Claire-nado” Claire Streeter hurled a gem to derail the Lady Royals 5-1.

Streeter scattered five hits and struck out four. Jade Bayless drove in two runs. “Jilly Potatoe” Jill Bock, Joy Sanchez, and Kealy Myhre each had an RBI.

In the other game of the GSAC playoffs Wednesday, Ottawa University got the 2-1 victory over Hope on Alexis Jimenez’s walk-off triple. That sets up an all-Arizona championship game today as the Lady Eagles face off against the Lady Spirit.
