For the second year in a row, the Embry-Riddle softball team had a shot at taking the Great Southwest Athletic Conference championship. If they could do it, they would win it as the number four seed in this four-team tournament.
But standing in their way was Ottawa University. Down 4–0 in Thursday’s game, the Lady Eagles staged a seventh-inning comeback, but fell short and lost 4–2. “The Bruiser” Danica Quinn had a two-run triple.
As this was a double-elimination format, Embry-Riddle had one more shot to get the title. But the Lady Spirit leveled up on offense and won that game as well, final score 9–2 to take home the championship banner. The Lady Eagles scored both their runs on errors.
Embry-Riddle concludes the season with a 30–22 record.
