In April of 2025, skeletal remains were discovered behind the Bashas’ complex in Camp Verde, leading to an investigation by the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office. At the time of the discovery, the identity of the individual was unknown, and the remains were sent to the Yavapai County Medical Examiner’s Office. Medical examiners worked over the last year to identify the man, utilizing a series of national databases and extensive DNA testing.
Marshal’s Office officials announced yesterday the remains have been identified as belonging to Jeremiah Christian Mason, a 40-year-old resident of Verde Valley. They add it’s possible his death was the result of natural or accidental causes, but the case remains under investigation. Anyone with information related to the case should contact the Verde Valley Marshal’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit at 928-554-8300.
