Officials with the Town of Prescott Valley are reminding residents to stay alert for rattlesnakes as temperatures rise across the Tri-City area. If you do encounter a rattlesnake on your property, do not approach it. Instead, call your local animal services agency to safely relocate the snake.
Residents are urged to take preventative steps, including keeping grass trimmed, clearing debris like wood piles, and sealing openings around homes where snakes could enter. When working outdoors, wear sturdy gloves and closed-toe shoes. Before starting yard work, town officials recommend using a rake to check areas where snakes may be hiding.
If you are bitten, call 911 immediately and seek medical care right away.
