Another Plea for Residents to Create Defensible Space

The weather has warmed in the Prescott area, and with it comes increased fire risk. Officials with the Yavapai County Flood Control District say being prepared starts long before a wildfire does. They say residents should take steps to create defensible space around their homes.

Residents should clear the first 5 feet around their homes from fuels and reduce fuels out to 100 feet. These reductions can lower the risk of ignition from embers, radiant heat, and direct flames.
