A man was injured after falling off a cliff in Sycamore Canyon Thursday afternoon. Personnel from several agencies, including the Verde Valley Fire District, Cottonwood Fire Department, and Jerome Fire Department, were called in to search for the man. He was eventually located after nearby passersby heard calls for help and contacted 911.
Rescuers navigated difficult terrain and performed a technical rope rescue to reach the patient. Medics provided emergency care before he was removed safely. The man spent nearly six hours in the canyon before being rescued. He was transported to a waiting medical helicopter for further treatment.
Fire officials have not released the condition of the patient or details about how the fall occurred.
