Runner Dies During Race Through Prescott

A woman died while competing in the Cocodona 250 ultra-marathon. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office reports the woman, who was in her 40s, was running along a trail in Groom Creek south of Prescott Tuesday when she collapsed. Officials with the Cocodona 250 have not released the runner’s name or the circumstances of her death.

The ultra-marathon began in Black Canyon City Monday and finished in Flagstaff Wednesday.
