An updated traffic schedule is now in effect for the State Route 89A guardrail replacement project in Oak Creek Canyon.
Lane restrictions are in effect along Highway 89A through Oak Creek Canyon to accommodate a guardrail replacement project.
The restrictions are in place 24 hours a day Monday through Thursday, and Fridays until noon, between Pine Flat Campground and Oak Creek Vista. Temporary traffic signals will guide vehicles through the switchbacks one direction at a time.
Drivers should plan for long delays, especially during peak travel hours. Both northbound and southbound lanes will re-open Fridays at noon and remain open through the weekend.
The project includes replacing old guardrails, rebuilding curbs and gutters, and installing new concrete barriers. Work is expected to continue through the summer.
