1935: A baseball legend calls it a career. Babe Ruth announced his retirement. He left the game as MLB’s all-time home run leader with 714.

1987: The Kid was number one. The Seattle Mariners drafted Ken Griffey Jr. with the number one overall pick. In his 22-year career, Griffey batted .284 with 630 home runs and 1,836 RBIs.

1989: He teed off at the plate. Cincinnati’s Eric Davis hit for the cycle and drove in six runs. That helped the Reds beat San Diego 9-6.
