The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management is helping fire districts across the state be better prepared to tackle wildfires.
The agency recently awarded $55,000 in Rural Fire Capacity grants to ten fire districts statewide. Three of them are in Yavapai County: the Walker Fire Department, the Crown King Fire District, and the Southern Yavapai Fire District.
The money will be used for the purchase of hand tools, personal protective equipment, and radios.
