A tentative budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year has been unanimously approved by the Prescott city council at their voting meeting Tuesday. The council also set a public hearing for June 23rd concerning a likely property tax increase, which would be voted on during their regular meeting on July 14th. The final draft of the 26-27 budget will be voted on during the council’s next meeting on June 23rd as well. Council also approved the ballot language for several proposed amendments to the city charter which will appear on the general election ballot on November third. And council also voted to adopt an ordinance to purchase property at the Prescott airport for improvements to an aircraft parking ramp for u-s forest service firefighting aircraft. The ordinance also states that if a purchase price cannot be negotiated, the city will file for eminent domain to obtain the property through the Yavapai county superior court. All three items in the regular agenda were passed by the council unanimously.
