As monsoon season approaches, officials with Yavapai County Emergency Management are reminding residents of the dangers posed by lightning.
Y-C-E-M officials advise that when thunder is heard, people should immediately go indoors and stay away from windows and plumbing. They add residents should wait at least 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder before returning outside.
Emergency management officials say that if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
