Paving Work on HWY 179

Something to keep in mind for Tri-City area residents thinking of going to Sedona over the summer. ADOT crews will have overnight traffic restrictions in place along Highway 179 in the Village of Oak Creek starting Tuesday. This is necessary to accommodate a pavement preservation project.

Work will take place between the Red Rock Ranger Station and Chapel Road. Crews will be on the job from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings.

During the project, Highway 179 will be reduced to a single lane, with northbound and southbound traffic taking turns through the work zone. Flaggers and a pilot car will assist motorists. All restrictions will be removed each morning after work is complete.

The project should be completed sometime this fall.
