Monsoon Driving Advice

With the monsoon becoming more active in the Tri-City area, officials with the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority have some tips on what to do if caught driving through a storm.

If you approach a low water crossing that is closed, do not drive around the barricades. If you become stuck in the water and need to be rescued, you could have to pay for the cost of your rescue under Arizona’s “Stupid Motorist Law.” There is also the risk that your car could be swept away by flood waters and you could drown. If the rain becomes too intense, find a place to pull over – like a parking lot – and wait out the storm.

You should also make sure your windshield wipers are working properly.
