A wildfire in Cordes Lakes on Saturday destroyed two homes. The Mayer Fire District reports the blaze occurred in the area of Black Mountain and Quail Run. The fire grew to 20 acres in size before it was brought under control. Along with the two homes, one shed, one carport, and a fifth wheel trailer were also destroyed in the fire.
No injuries were reported. Fire officials believe the fire started due to someone using a weed whacker.
