Prescott National Forest to Offer Christmas Tree Permits

Christmas may be more than three months away, but it’s not too early to start thinking about getting your Christmas tree permit from the Prescott National Forest.

Permits will be available for purchase starting on October 10, 2024. This season, 700 permits will be available forest-wide. Christmas tree permits are only available online through Recreation.gov: It is important to carefully read the overview and need-to-know information prior to purchasing the permit. Visitors will also need to set up or login to a Recreation.gov account to complete the transaction.

  • Permits will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis until they are gone.
  • No Cutting Prior to November 1. The permit will allow the holder to cut a tree within
    designated cutting areas between the dates of November 1 through December 31.
  • Each Christmas tree permit is $20 and allows permit holders to cut a tree up to 10 feet tall.
  • A customer may purchase only one tree permit, which is intended for his or her family.
  • Permits are for personal use only.
  • Trees must be cut within designated cutting areas.
