Friday Football Recap; BMHS Gets Comeback Win, CVHS & Mayer Fall

The Bradshaw Mountain football team scored the first points of the game, but Coconino ruled the remainder of the first half of Friday’s contest and went into halftime up 20-7. The Bears’ offense re-emerged in the second half and tied the score 20-20 in the fourth quarter. With two minutes remaining in regulation, Mike Sanford chucked a 57-yard touchdown pass to Sean Hughes to put Bradshaw back on top. The Panthers advanced toward the goal line with 30 seconds left when Trenton Bunkers got an interception in the end zone to cap off a 27-20 Bears victory. Kaleb Dekens had two rushing touchdowns for Bradshaw, and Sanford threw two touchdown passes, his other one to Kylin Jackson. The Bears are now 4-2 on the season.

In other local football action from the weekend, both Chino Valley and Mayer had a rough go of it. The Cougars lost to Mohave 64-0, putting their record at 2-4. The Wildcats fell to Desert Heights Prep 41-0, giving them an 0-7 record.
