It seems clear the Prescott badminton team is at the top of their game, and they’re doing it at the right time. Yesterday was the regular season finale for the Lady Badgers, which took place at Phoenix’s Greenway High School. Prescott dominated the Lady Demons to get the 9-0 victory. That’s the Lady Badgers’ fifth sweep in a row.
Only one match went to a third-set tiebreaker. In number two doubles, Reese Sorensen and Ashlynn Reed got clipped in the first set 26-24, then came back to win the next two sets 21-17 and 21-7. Abigail Daniels also had a close match at number four singles, beating Eldana Kebenessa 21-18 and 21-16. Sorensen also had a competitive match at number one singles with a 21-12 and 21-15 win over Chelsea Brand.
Prescott finishes the regular season with a 13-1 record. Next up, the state singles and doubles tournaments Friday and Saturday at Independence High School in Glendale.
