Several roads in the Granite Basin Recreation Area of the Prescott National Forest will undergo maintenance. Work should begin on November 11 and take four months to complete. Crews will make repairs to aging and eroding pavement and address drainage issues.
The project also includes the construction of a new fee station. This will replace the multiple fee tubes that currently exist at each individual day-use site within the area and will provide an automated fee machine, allowing visitors to purchase day-use passes with credit or debit cards rather than cash.
The contractor will use the Cayuse Trailhead for staging equipment, resulting in its closure for approximately four months.
