They could not have had a stronger opening to their 2024-2025 season. On Friday, the Embry-Riddle wrestling team was in Kansas City to take on Avila, and they romped over them, 50-6. Seven of the matches were decided by falls, with Chino Valley grad Keller Rock needing just 28 seconds to pin his opponent at 174 pounds. Jayden Lutrell got a pin in 43 seconds at 165 pounds. Riddle’s only loss was by forfeit at 125 pounds.
The next day, the Eagles went to Park City, Kansas, for the Falcon Invitational. Lutrell and heavyweight Kenneth Copley led the way for Riddle by winning the championships in their weight classes. Copley was especially dominant, winning four matches by pin and the fifth by major decision. Landon Smith was runner-up at 125 pounds. Allan Hendricks, Christian Lopez, Adam Stanley, and Logan Hancey all finished third in their weight classes.
