Prescott Preparing for Numerous Christmas Festivities

It’s less than two weeks away! Organizers are preparing for Prescott’s annual holiday attractions in downtown Prescott, promising a fun-filled season with several free events in “Arizona’s Christmas City.” Prescott was honored this year as one of the top 10 best Christmas towns in the nation by Newsweek.

The festivities kick off with the 27th annual Holiday Light Parade & Bonfire Festival on Saturday, November 30, at 6 p.m. on Cortez Street. Led by Santa, the parade features over 40 illuminated floats and music from local school bands. The fun continues at Mile High Middle School’s field from 7 to 8:30 p.m. with a bonfire, music, Santa, and games for the kids.

Next up are two of Prescott’s most anticipated events: the 42nd annual Christmas Parade and the 70th annual Courthouse Lighting. This year’s parade theme is “Heroes of the Holiday.”

On Saturday, December 7, from 1 to 3 p.m., the Christmas Parade will fill downtown Prescott with festive floats, marching bands, and holiday tunes, led by Grand Marshal the Friends of the Jersey Lilly. After the parade, children can meet Santa at the Courthouse Plaza until 5 p.m.

At 6 p.m., the Courthouse and over 80 surrounding trees will light up in a stunning display, accompanied by live music starting at 5 p.m. and capped with a fireworks show. A free shuttle service will run from Prescott High School to Granite Street for the event.

The 36th annual Acker Night takes place Friday, December 13, starting with an opening ceremony at 5 p.m. on Gurley Street. Visitors can stroll through downtown Prescott businesses, enjoy holiday lights, and listen to live music from more than 500 performers. All tips to the artists help provide music lessons and instruments to local youth and support school music programs. A free shuttle service will run from Frontier Village Shopping Center off Highway 69.

On December 14 and 15, the Christmas Village & Christkindl Market will return to West Goodwin Street in downtown Prescott. Then, ring in the new year at the 14th annual New Year’s Eve Boot Drop on historic Whiskey Row.
