PHS Flag Football Comes Up Short in State Championship Game

They had a chance to end their inaugural season by bringing home a state title. The Prescott flag football team was at Chandler High School on Saturday, facing St. Mary’s for the 4A Conference State Championship.

It was a game where points came at a premium. The Lady Badgers trailed by three points late in the fourth quarter and were driving down the field in an attempt to score. However, Prescott was about 20 yards out of field goal range when time expired, giving the Lady Knights a 10-7 victory and the big trophy.

Aubrey Kitahata scored Prescott’s only touchdown. On defense, Delainey Courtney, Allana Gilray, and Olivia Raber each recorded a sack. Maggie Maneely had an huge game in the secondary, grabbing three interceptions.

Prescott finishes its first season with a 15-1 overall record. They lose only two players to graduation.
