Their first home series of the 2025 season would turn out to be a challenging one for the Yavapai College baseball team. The Roughriders hosted number 16 ranked College of Southern Nevada.
In game one of Friday’s twinbill, the Coyotes got out to a 10-1 lead in the fifth inning. YC mounted a massive comeback in the late innings, but fell short 10-8. Matthew Peterson had two home runs and three RBIs for the Roughriders. Cade Schupp also homered.
In game two, Yavapai was up 4-1 in the eighth inning when Southern Nevada rallied to get the 5-4 victory. Liam Richards homered and drove in two runs.
In the rubber game of the series Saturday, the Roughriders found themselves on the wrong end of a lopsided game, losing to the Coyotes 13-5. Lucas Franz went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
YC is now 3-6 on the season.
