The Yavapai College baseball team stepped away from competition in the community college ranks to take on Arizona Christian University Saturday. The Roughriders’ bats exploded from the get-go and never let up the rest of the day.
In game one, YC got up 9-2 in the second inning and went on to clobber the Firestorm 15-5. Justin Cherrington had two doubles and five RBIs. Matthew Peterson and Jackson Schofield both drove in two runs.
Game two was another lopsided affair, with Yavapai trouncing ACU 19-0. Cherrington had two more RBIs. AJ Diaz drove in three runs. Kevin Ramos tripled and drove in two runs.
YC is now 10-6 on the season and is on a seven-game winning streak. The Roughriders are back in action tomorrow when they host the Ottawa University JV in a doubleheader.
