Prescott to Celebrate Paul Revere’s Ride with Two Lights Event

The City of Prescott will participate in the “Two Lights” event on April 18th. The event commemorates and honors Paul Revere’s famous ride on April 18th, 1775, to warn of the approach of British troops prior to the Battles of Lexington and Concord. On that day, two lights are to be displayed in statehouses, municipal and county buildings, schools, offices, churches, and even individual homes.

The event is also an opportunity to raise awareness for the upcoming “America 250 Celebration,” which will mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Prescott Mayor Phil Goode said, “This event marks the anniversary of the famous ride by Paul Revere, who was actually joined by William Dawes, and Dr. Samuel Prescott, to warn the militia of the British regulars advancing to seize the arms stockpiled in Concord.”

On April 18th, the city will display the two lights in the windows at the new City Hall located at 201 N. Montezuma Street.
