Even though the Prescott baseball team, once again, posted double-digit runs in a game, it was still a close affair with Mingus Monday as the Badgers held an 11-7 lead after four innings. Then came the fifth inning, and that’s when Prescott went to town on the Marauders’ pitching. They pumped out eleven runs. Mingus managed just one in the bottom of the frame, and the Badgers ended the game early on the mercy rule, final score 22-8.
Lucas Tobin doubled, tripled, drove in four runs, and scored four runs. Cooper Magnett embraced the power of three, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Ivan Schuster homered, tripled, and drove in three runs. Colton Champion also had a three-RBI day for the Badgers, as did Travis Gates. Adrian Sanderford and Nick Martin both had an RBI and four runs scored.
Mingus pitchers walked five batters and hit eight, with Sanderford getting plunked three times.
Prescott is now 13-5 overall on the season and 8-2 in Grand Canyon Region play.
