The Bradshaw Mountain baseball team’s offense was ready and rarin’ to go the moment they stepped on the field. The Bears exploded for eleven runs in the first three innings in Saturday’s state tournament opener at Crimson. They were up 12-2 in the fourth inning when the Rattlers rallied and drew closer to the Bears, 12-8. Both teams scored a run apiece in the fifth, but Dylan Lockwood froze Crimson’s bats in the final two innings to get the 13-9 victory for Bradshaw Mountain.
Garison Jones hit for the cycle and drove in five runs. Dylan Williams homered, drove in two runs, and scored three. Isaiah Avila also had two RBIs. Lockwood had an RBI and two runs scored. Caden Randall went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI.
The number nine-seeded Bears are in Tucson today for the next round of state. They face number one seed Salpointe Catholic, who edged out number 16 St. Mary’s 8-7 Saturday.
