A great start to the Region One playoffs for the Yavapai College softball team. The Lady Riders began the proceedings Friday taking on Eastern Arizona. YC notched a run in the first inning and put up several more throughout the game. Mackenzie Durr dominated in the circle as Yavapai blanked the Lady Gila Monsters 5-0. Durr fanned seven and allowed just three hits. Tamryn Tucker drove in two runs. Charley Pitrat and Natalie Ojeda each had an RBI. Olivia Boswell went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Yavapai’s second game of the day, however, did not go their way as they fell to Arizona Western 9-4. Pitrat drove in two more runs for YC. Bradshaw Mountain grad Brianna Baca went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

On Saturday, windy conditions plagued both Yavapai and Southern Nevada all day. The Lady Coyotes, however, scratched out a run and knocked off the Lady Riders 1-0. Yavapai finishes the season with a 22-23 record.
