Yavapai County’s drought conditions are similar to last week’s. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, three-quarters of the county is in severe drought. Much of northern Yavapai is in moderate drought. A portion of southern Yavapai County around Yarnell and Congress is in extreme drought.
As for the rest of the state, nearly three-quarters of Arizona is in either severe drought or extreme drought. A sliver of southeastern Arizona is in exceptional drought. A large portion of northern Arizona is in moderate drought.
Because of the current drought conditions, the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest is moderate. Still, everyone is urged to be careful with anything that can produce a flame or a spark to prevent a wildfire from breaking out.
