OK Man Sentenced in Ash Fork Drug Case Now Guilty of Perjury

An Oklahoma man will spend some extra time in Arizona prison for lying during a drug trial. On Tuesday, 31-year-old Binh Phoung Nguyen was sentenced to more than two years for perjury in Yavapai County Superior Court. Nguyen, a resident of Oklahoma City, was pulled over by a Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputy near Ash Fork in June of 2023. Cocaine, counterfeit Adderall pills, meth, and a gun were found in his vehicle. He pled guilty to drug charges and was sentenced to four years in prison in December of 2023.

Nguyen later testified against the passenger in his car at the time, Vinh Duong. Nguyen said Duong was simply along for a Father’s Day vacation with his son and was not involved in any drug dealing. That trial ended in a hung jury. Investigators later found out through phone records that Duong had purchased all the drugs found in the vehicle.

Duong was found guilty last November and sentenced to seven years in prison. Nguyen’s perjury trial took place last month.
