A ceremony took place Saturday in honor of Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Rick Lopez. Family, friends, and colleagues gathered at the Courthouse Plaza in Prescott on the third anniversary of Lopez’s death.
On June 28th, 2022, Sergeant Lopez was killed in the line of duty while attempting to arrest a suspect in Cordes Lakes. That suspect, Robert McDowell, was eventually arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
