Yavapai County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man following an armed standoff Sunday afternoon. According to sheriff’s office officials, deputies were called to a residence off Sapphire Dr. near Highway 69 in Prescott for a report of a man yelling on his back porch while holding a rifle.
Upon arrival, deputies attempted to contact the suspect at the front of the home and observed he was wearing a holstered revolver. The man reached for the revolver, but could not get it out of the holster. Deputies drew their weapons, but no shots were fired. The man then retreated into the house.
The YCSO SWAT team was brought in. Several attempts were made to communicate with the suspect, but he refused to respond. Deputies then used less-lethal rounds to subdue the suspect and take him into custody.
The suspect, who is in his 30s, is charged with disorderly conduct and attempted aggravated assault on law enforcement. The investigation remains ongoing.
